Previously, Young served as the U.S. Representative for Iowa's 3rd congressional district from 2015 to 2019. He earned his BA from Drake University. He is the immediate past Chair of the Dallas County Democrats and has led non-profits. Residing in the Van Meter area, he coaches youth sports and a high school debate team. Inspired by his first caucus 40 years ago, Walton advocates pragmatic solutions for Iowa, prioritizing public schools, the nursing shortage, state growth, environmental protection, and quality childcare. He seeks common-sense problem-solving to win the district in 2026, which was narrowly lost in 2024.
