• Jeff Shipley — Incumbent State Representative in Fairfield, IA

  Jeff Shipley, born in Euclid, Ohio, in 1988 and raised in Naperville, Illinois, is an incumbent Iowa State Representative for District 87. He earned a B.A. in political science from the University of Iowa in 2010 and has been a Fairfield resident since 2011. First assuming office in 2019, he currently serves as Chair of the International Relations Committee and Vice Chair of Higher Education and Government Oversight. Shipley is running for re-election in the Republican primary on June 2, 2026. He has publicly stated that "white privilege" is "racist on its face" and supported making Ivermectin available over the counter, a stance which led to a controversial public exchange in 2026.

  Thomas O'Donnell, a rural Keosauqua resident and Democrat, is campaigning for the Iowa House of Representatives, District 87, with the primary election scheduled for June 2, 2026. He lives in his wife Paula Mohr's childhood home and is active in community development. O'Donnell serves on the Bentonsport Improvement Association board and was instrumental in securing a significant grant for the Bentonsport Pedestrian Bridge. He is also a board member for the Rural Restoration Project, which aims to foster economic and social growth, and serves as secretary for Science Iowa, promoting evidence-based policy.
