Olszewski became the first in his family to earn a college degree, ultimately obtaining a Ph.D. in public policy from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County. His career in public service began as a public school teacher before he served for nine years in the Maryland House of Delegates. He was subsequently elected twice as the Baltimore County Executive. In 2024, he was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives and was sworn into office on January 3, 2025.
