Alvaro E. Ceron-Ruiz is a non-partisan candidate for the Prince George's County Board of Education, District 2 in Maryland. A first-generation Guatemalan American and Eleanor Roosevelt High School graduate, he previously made history as the first Latino student member elected to the Board of Education. Over two terms, he advocated for diversity and inclusive policies for all students. Ceron-Ruiz later studied public policy at the University of Maryland, College Park, where he continued his involvement in student government. He also recently worked as a district intern for U.S. Representative Glenn Ivey.

A former second-grade teacher and STEM lead in the district, she brings firsthand classroom experience to her campaign. Decaire-Goldin has spent over a decade working in education policy, including serving as the Director of Teaching and Learning at the Washington, D.C. state education agency. Her campaign priorities focus on enhancing student safety, supporting social and emotional learning, and securing competitive compensation to recruit and retain well-prepared educators.
