  Jaymi Sterling, a Republican, is the State's Attorney for St. Mary's County, Maryland. A career prosecutor with over 17 years of experience, she was elected in 2022, becoming the first woman to hold the office. Previously, she served as Deputy State's Attorney in St. Mary's County and prosecuted violent crimes in Anne Arundel County. Her administration has focused on aggressively prosecuting violent offenders, enhancing victim services through a new Victim/Witness Services Unit, and modernizing the office with new case-management systems. Sterling is a long-time resident of St. Mary's County and a graduate of the University of Maryland School of Law.
