• Gabriel Acevero — House of Delegates in Legislative District 39, Maryland

  Gabriel Acevero is a Democratic member of the Maryland House of Delegates representing Legislative District 39 in Montgomery County. Born in Trinidad and Tobago, he immigrated to Maryland in 2007. In 2018, Acevero's election made him the first openly gay Afro-Latino to serve in the Maryland General Assembly. Before holding office, he worked as a union organizer and activist, supporting campaigns such as marriage equality and the Maryland Dream Act. As a legislator, he has championed criminal justice reform, sponsoring "Anton's Law" to increase police transparency and accountability. Delegate Acevero serves on the House Appropriations Committee and is an active member of the Legislative Black Caucus and the Latino Legislative Caucus.

Her professional experience also includes serving as communications director for the Congressional Hispanic Caucus and working as an adjunct professor at George Washington University. Within the Maryland General Assembly, Lopez has served as Deputy Majority Whip and held the position of President of the Women Legislators of Maryland. Her committee assignments have included the Judiciary Committee and the Health and Government Operations Committee.

  Greg Wims is a Democratic member of the Maryland House of Delegates, representing District 39 since his appointment on May 2, 2023.   Robert T. Wu is a Democratic candidate running for the Maryland House of Delegates in Legislative District 39. He has served on the Gaithersburg City Council for over eight years, having been first elected in 2015 and subsequently re-elected by voters in 2019 and 2023. During his tenure as a city council member, Wu has concentrated on several key policy areas, including environmental sustainability, improving pedestrian safety, fostering local economic development, and supporting innovative education initiatives to benefit the community. His involvement in local civic matters began through his homeowners association prior to his election to public office.
