Chuck Borges is a Democratic candidate for the Maryland State Senate in Legislative District 29. A resident of Southern Maryland since 2005, Borges is a retired U.S. Navy commander who served for nearly 23 years. During his military career, he became a combat veteran and was decorated for valor for his service in Iraq. Following his retirement from the Navy, Borges transitioned to a career as a federal civil servant. His work included an appointment as a Presidential Innovation Fellow at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, where he served during the COVID-19 pandemic. Most recently, he was the Chief Data Officer at the Social Security Administration, a position he left after filing a whistleblower complaint.
