Incumbent Republican State Representative Greg Overstreet, representing Montana House District 88 (Stevensville and Florence), is seeking re-election in 2026. In his freshman 2025 legislative session, he championed bills restoring Stevensville's water rights and establishing rodeo as Montana's state sport, while opposing legislation restricting new water wells. Evan Schroedel, a Democrat, is running for the Montana House of Representatives District 88 in the 2026 primary election. Born in Missoula in 1960, he served in the U.S. Air Force from 1979 to 1983. He graduated from Simms High School and attended the University of Montana before embarking on a career as a railroad engineer, and also in farming and ranching. Now residing in Florence, Schroedel advocates for public school funding, expanding Medicare, and fair taxes on wealth and corporations. He supports property tax reduction, abortion rights, increased government regulation on climate change, and expanding LGBTQ+ rights, including same-sex adoption.
