  Bryan J. Breitling, a native of Hoven, South Dakota, is a former State Senator for South Dakota's 23rd district, where he served from 2021 to 2025. He is a veteran of the U.S. Army National Guard and holds degrees from Northern State University and the University of Sioux Falls, specializing in health care administration. Breitling has a long career as a healthcare administrator with Avera Health and previously served multiple terms on the South Dakota Association of Healthcare Organizations Board of Trustees. He received the SDAHO Distinguished Service Award – State Legislator of the Year in 2024. During his legislative tenure, he was Vice Chair of the Senate Appropriations Committee and chaired a committee studying marijuana programs. He is currently running as an Independent candidate for the South Dakota State Senate to represent District 25 in the 2026 general election.
