Debra Lekanoff is an incumbent State Representative for Washington's 40th legislative district, proudly serving since January 2019 as the only Native American woman in the Legislature. A mom dedicated to future generations, she calls the Skagit Valley home. With over two decades of government relations experience, including as Governmental Affairs Director for the Swinomish Tribal Community, she is known for her inclusive decision-making and ability to work across diverse groups. Her legislative focus includes protecting the environment and natural resources, increasing educational and technical training opportunities, and ensuring accessible healthcare. She studied at Evergreen State College.

Cindy Carter is a seasoned public servant from Washington State, currently serving as an incumbent Grant County Commissioner for District 3. First elected in 2008, she is presently in her fifth consecutive term, having secured re-election in 2022, which she has stated will be her final term in that role. As a Republican, she represents areas including Royal City, Quincy, George, and Mattawa, and resides in the Royal City area.
