  Emily Alvarado is an attorney and affordable housing advocate. Before her appointment to the State Senate in January 2025, she represented the same district in the Washington House of Representatives. Her career includes serving as the director of the City of Seattle's Office of Housing, working as a vice president at the nonprofit Enterprise Community Partners, and being a field organizer for Planned Parenthood. She earned a Bachelor of Arts from Scripps College and a Juris Doctor from the University of Washington School of Law.
