About
Yassamin Ansari is the U.S. Representative for Arizona's 3rd Congressional District, having served since January 2025. A progressive Democrat and the youngest woman in Congress, she previously made history as the youngest and first Iranian American elected to the Phoenix City Council. Ansari holds degrees from Stanford and Cambridge, and her background includes climate policy advocacy. She is running for re-election in 2026, focusing on lowering costs, expanding affordable housing, defending rights, and tackling the climate crisis. Ansari is a vocal critic of what she perceives as Republican policies that favor the wealthy and dismantle social safety nets, and has introduced impeachment articles against Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth.
