Aaron Gies is an associate professor of theology and Franciscan studies at St. Bonaventure University. He serves as the board chair of a local non-profit farm and assists with his wife's veterinary practice. Originally from rural North Carolina, Gies was raised by a self-employed contractor and a school secretary before settling in Olean, New York. He is running as a Democratic candidate for the U.S. House of Representatives in New York's 23rd Congressional District.
