Akbar Ali is a 21-year-old Democrat serving in the Georgia State House, making him one of the state's youngest legislators. A recent graduate of Kennesaw State University and the eldest son of Pakistani immigrants, he also owns a graphic and web design business. Ali was elected in a special election runoff in December 2025 to represent House District 106, which includes parts of Snellville and Lawrenceville in Gwinnett County. Describing himself as a "practical progressive," he aims to work across the aisle to address housing and cost of living issues, while also advocating for his diverse district and immigrant families.
