Now a retired farmer from Cando, he is seeking to represent North Dakota’s At-Large Congressional District in the U.S. House as a Republican. Balazs is challenging incumbent Julie Fedorchak in the June 9, 2026 primary, having secured the endorsement of North Dakota Republican delegates. He states his motivation for running is a belief that it is time for change and real representation. He holds similar views to Fedorchak regarding support for President Trump's war in Iran.
