Alexis Calatayud is the incumbent Florida State Senator for District 38, having assumed office in November 2022. She earned a bachelor's degree in political science, international relations, and Spanish from Florida International University, where she served two terms as student body president. Calatayud previously worked as the director of legislative affairs and public policy for the Florida Department of Education. She also served as a legislative aide and campaign manager for former state representative Vance Aloupis.
