Dr. Alisha Byrd-Clark is a native of Salisbury, North Carolina. She owns a human resources and business consulting firm, Byrd & Company, Inc., and is the founder of the nonprofit Gemstones & COMPASS Leadership Academy, which mentors youth and operates a community food pantry. Byrd-Clark earned a dual bachelor's degree in Political Science and History from Winston-Salem State University, an MBA from Strayer University, and a Ph.D. in Organizational Leadership from Northcentral University. She was appointed to fill the vacant Seat 6 on the Rowan-Salisbury Board of Education to complete a term ending in 2026. She previously served two terms on the board, including as the first Black woman to be Board Chair. She has also run for other offices, including the Rowan County Board of Commissioners in 2022 and the North Carolina House of Representatives in 2024.
