Allison Tant is a former lobbyist and chair of the Florida Democratic Party who has represented Florida House District 9 (part of Leon County, most of Jefferson County, and all of Madison County) since November 3, 2020. Born in Jacksonville, Florida, in 1961, she earned a B.A. in communications and a B.S. in psychology from Florida State University in 1993. She is the founder of Independence Landing, an affordable housing community for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, and founding chair emeritus of Keys to Exceptional Youth Success (KEYS), a scholarship program for students with disabilities. She is married to attorney Barry Richard and has three children.
