Amy Lam has been a resident of Sammamish for 30 years and was the first Asian-American and first woman of color elected to the City Council in 2021. She is a first-generation Asian American, born and raised in Saginaw, Michigan. Lam earned a Bachelor of Arts from Brandeis University and a Master of Fine Arts from Yale University. She has worked as a graphic designer and creative manager for companies like Starbucks, MOD Pizza, and currently at the Washington State Department of Health. She was elected Deputy Mayor by the council in January 2025.
