Andy Vargas serves in the Massachusetts House of Representatives for the 3rd Essex District, his home city of Haverhill. Formerly a Haverhill City Councilor elected at age 22, he won a special election to the State House in 2017. He grew up in Haverhill after his family moved there from Cambridge; his father and grandparents immigrated from the Dominican Republic. He graduated from Boston University, worked at Entrepreneurship for All (EforAll), and serves as Vice Chair of the Joint Committee on Economic Development and Emerging Technologies.
