Andrew Reding graduated from the Princeton University School of Public and International Affairs. He has served as a senior fellow at the World Policy Institute and as a human rights expert for the US federal government for 20 years. He was the first openly LGBTQ+ elected official in Southwest Florida, serving on the Sanibel City Council from 1996-2000. Reding also served as the Chair of the Whatcom County Democrats for three terms, from 2019 to 2024. He was elected to the Whatcom County Charter Review Commission in 2025.
