Angel Ramirez is an incumbent State Representative for Iowa, representing portions of Cedar Rapids in House District 78. A Democrat, she made history as the first Latina elected to the Iowa General Assembly, winning a special election in April 2025 with 79% of the vote. Ramirez, 25, is a first-generation college graduate of Coe College and co-founded Our Future, a nonprofit fellowship program developing new leaders. Her legislative service began in May 2025, filling a vacant term that expires at the end of 2026. She is seeking re-election in November 2026. Ramirez emphasizes opening doors for the next generation and ensuring her community’s voice is heard, advocating for worker rights and community representation.
