Angelique Ashby is a Democratic member of the California State Senate, representing District 8. She assumed office in December 2022 and currently serves as Senate Majority Leader. Prior to joining the state legislature, Ashby served on the Sacramento City Council for 12 years, acting as Vice Mayor or Mayor Pro Tem for seven of those years. She earned a bachelor's degree from the University of California, Davis, and a Juris Doctor from the McGeorge School of Law.
