Armor Reece Pyrtle Jr. is a lifelong resident of Rockingham County and has represented District 65 in the North Carolina House of Representatives since being appointed in August 2021. He graduated from Appalachian State University in 1989 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice. Pyrtle joined the Eden Police Department in 1990, eventually being appointed Chief of Police in 2009 and retiring from the role in 2018. Prior to his state legislative role, he served as a Rockingham County Commissioner from 2016 to 2021.
