Aruna Miller is the 10th Lieutenant Governor of Maryland, sworn into office on January 18, 2023. A member of the Democratic Party, she is the first South Asian woman and the first immigrant to be elected to a statewide position in Maryland. Miller was born in Hyderabad, India, and immigrated to the United States at the age of seven. She earned a bachelor's degree in civil engineering from the Missouri University of Science and Technology. Prior to her career in public service, Miller worked for 25 years as a transportation engineer for the Montgomery County Department of Transportation. She previously served in the Maryland House of Delegates from 2010 to 2019, representing District 15.
