Ash Kalra is a Democratic politician serving as a member of the California State Assembly for the 25th district since 2016. Representing portions of San Jose, he is the first Hindu and Indian American to serve in the California Legislature. Before his election to the State Assembly, Kalra served on the San Jose City Council from 2008 to 2016 and worked as a deputy public defender for Santa Clara County for 11 years. He holds a law degree from Georgetown University Law Center.
