Avanti Bergquist is the incumbent for Director District 2. A graduate of the Renton School District herself, she attended Highlands and Kennydale Elementary, McKnight Middle School, and graduated from Hazen High School. She earned a degree from Duke University, followed by a master's degree and a doctorate of medicine. She completed a Psychiatry residency and a Child and Adolescent Psychiatry fellowship at the University of Washington. Dr. Bergquist works as a child, adolescent, and adult psychiatrist. She serves on the board of the Renton Schools Foundation and is a passionate advocate for improving mental wellness and mental healthcare for children. Her husband, Steve Bergquist, is a Washington State House Representative.
