Barbara Roseboro Featherson

Barbara Featherson is a lifelong resident of Columbus County, having grown up in the Mt. Olive community. She graduated from West Columbus High School and earned a general business certificate from Southeastern Business College. Featherson worked for 40 years at the Social Security office in Whiteville, where she was the first Black woman to work in the office and eventually became the manager before retiring. In December 2022, she was sworn into office as the first Black woman to serve on the Columbus County Board of Commissioners. She is a devout Christian and has two sons with her husband of over 40 years, Jimmy.
