Becky Corran was elected as the first queer City Councilor in Las Cruces in 2021 to represent District 5. She has two decades of experience in public health and education. Corran holds a Master of Public Health from the University of Arizona and works as a professor at Doña Ana Community College. Her community service includes serving on the boards of the Animal Services Center of the Mesilla Valley, the Metropolitan Planning Organization, and Roadrunner Food Bank. In 2023, she was appointed to the Environmental Protection Agency's Local Government Advisory Committee.
