Blaine Watkins is a 23-year-old Republican State Representative for Iowa's House District 100, encompassing most of Lee County, including Donnellson where he resides on his family farm. He was sworn into office in March 2025 after winning a special election, making him Iowa's youngest House member. A December 2024 Grand View University graduate with a degree in political science and government, Watkins previously worked as a legislative aide. His primary policy focus is to lower property taxes and the high cost of living to improve affordability in his district, aiming to retain younger residents. He seeks to leverage his unique Gen Z perspective and Statehouse experience to find new ways to achieve legislative goals.
