Bob Michalson was born and raised in Chinook, Montana, where he worked on a farm in his early life. After a brief time in college, he worked for BNSF railroad for 24 years as a track welder, retiring in 2004. He moved to Stevensville in 2005 and has been involved in local government since 2012. He was appointed to the Town Council in 2016 and served as council president from 2018 until he was appointed mayor at the end of 2023.
