Bret Austin Dunn

Bret Austin Dunn is a Republican candidate for Georgia State Senate District 42 in the 2026 election. A Newton County native, he served in the U.S. Marine Corps and currently works as an attorney. Dunn is campaigning as an unapologetic conservative, endorsed by Governor Brian Kemp and current Senator Brian Strickland, whom he seeks to succeed. He is expected to advance past the primary uncontested and face Democratic challenger Rev. Eric Lee in the general election. His platform emphasizes bringing dignity, determination, and honor to the Georgia Capitol to keep the state a top place to live, work, and raise a family. District 42 covers Morgan County, much of Newton County, and parts of Henry and Walton Counties.
