Brian Meyer is an attorney and a Democratic member of the Iowa House of Representatives, representing District 29, which includes southeast Des Moines. Born in Dubuque, he holds degrees from the University of Northern Iowa and Drake University Law School, and served in the Iowa National Guard. His public service includes roles as an assistant Iowa attorney general, assistant Polk County attorney, and a member of the Des Moines City Council. First elected to the House in 2013, Meyer has risen to become the House Democratic Minority Leader, assuming office in May 2025.
