Brian Shortsleeve is a Massachusetts native, U.S. Marine Corps officer who deployed to Bosnia-Herzegovina and the Persian Gulf, and a graduate of Harvard College (ROTC scholarship) and Harvard Business School. In 2015 Gov. Charlie Baker appointed him Chief Administrator and Acting General Manager of the MBTA, where he served on the Fiscal and Management Control Board leading a budget and operations turnaround (2015-2017). He later co-founded the private-equity growth firm M33 Growth. He was named one of the '50 Most Influential People in Boston' by the Boston Business Journal and included on The Boston Globe's 'Game Changers' list for his MBTA work. He is married to his wife, Liz, and they have three sons. He is running as a Republican in the 2026 Massachusetts gubernatorial primary.
