Bruce Tarr is a Republican member of the Massachusetts State Senate representing the 1st Essex and Middlesex District, in office since 1995 and serving as Senate Minority Leader; he previously served in the Massachusetts House of Representatives (5th Essex District, 1991–1995). A Gloucester native, he graduated from Gloucester High School, earned a bachelor's degree in management from Suffolk University (1987) and a Juris Doctor from Suffolk University School of Law (1990), and has worked as an attorney.
