Bruce McDougall was first elected to the Anacortes City Council in November 2017. He was born and raised in Skagit County, graduated from Mount Vernon high school, and earned a bachelor's degree in political science from the University of Washington. He has a 24-year career in the tech industry and works as a Principle Network Architect for Cisco Systems. McDougall and his family have lived in Anacortes since 2013. Before his council service, he was on the Mayor's Citizen Advisory Committee, which helped shape the city's 2016 Comprehensive Plan, and he volunteered as a technology consultant to the city.
