She is a graduate of Terry Sanford High School. Evans earned dual Bachelor of Arts degrees in Psychology and Communication Studies from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She received her Juris Doctor from New England Law in Boston, where she was an editor for the New England Journal on Criminal and Civil Confinement. After law school, she returned to Fayetteville and began her legal career at the Cumberland County District Attorney's Office, where she worked for four and a half years. She then entered private practice, focusing on traffic and criminal defense. In November 2018, she was elected as a District Court Judge in Cumberland County. Evans has served as President of the Board for Better Health and on the boards of the Child Advocacy Center and the David McCune International Art Gallery at Methodist University.
