  • Affordable Housing

    Supports

Supports building more affordable housing, streamlining affordable-housing permitting, prioritizing income-restricted units, stabilizing rental vouchers, allowing a local option for rent stabilization, giving tenants a right to purchase buildings, and encouraging 2-3 family construction.

Whether you rent or buy, stable and affordable housing is essential. The high cost of housing is making it impossible to get ahead in Massachusetts. The state needs to work better with local leaders to ensure more housing is built, that critical income-restricted housing gets prioritized, and that renters get a fair deal and responsible landlords are supported.

  • Civil Rights & Equality

    Supports

Supports resisting federal extremism and protecting the rights and safety of neighbors - including immigrants and LGBTQ+ people - against federal crackdowns.

The Federal government has Massachusetts in the crosshairs. We need leaders who won't back down from protecting rights, our neighbors, our economy and our communities.

  • Cost of Living & Affordability

    Supports

Supports making the district affordable for working families by urgently reducing costs of utility bills, health care, housing and child care to reopen pathways to opportunity.

The pathways to opportunity are disappearing. We need urgent changes on utility bills, health care, housing and child care to keep that promise for the next generation.

  • Environment & Sustainability

    Supports

Supports climate action and a transition to clean, lower-cost energy: protecting MassSave, opposing utility profiteering and the GSEP program, streamlining solar/renewable permitting, opposing rollback of the state's 2050 climate commitments, a Make Polluters Pay climate superfund, and lead service line removal.

The climate crisis is already here - we feel the extreme temperatures, worsening storms, and flooding risk. We feel the squeeze in our utility bills and insurance premiums. A future of clean energy for all is possible, where we generate electricity locally and are not dependent on importing fossil fuels.

  • Fiscal Responsibility & Budgeting

    Supports

Supports state action to fix the municipal budget crisis facing cities and towns - drawing on four years chairing Malden's Finance Committee - including addressing the broken 'local share' of the Chapter 70 formula and sustainable local budgeting after Malden's failed override.

Our cities and towns are facing a financial 'perfect storm.' As Council Finance Chair, I see how we need help from the state to fix the problem and protect local quality of life.
