Born in West Virginia, he grew up in North Port, Florida, and graduated from the Sarasota Military Academy. He is a licensed emergency medical technician and has been affiliated with the National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians. Goodrich is also involved with the Republican Party of Sarasota County, the North Port Republican Club, and volunteers with the North Port Chamber of Commerce.
