Carla Santorno was appointed to the Board of Park Commissioners in February 2025 to fill the seat of the late Commissioner Tim Reid. She previously served as the superintendent of Tacoma Public Schools from 2012 to 2021, a career that spanned 49 years in education. During her tenure as superintendent, she was recognized with the national Women in Leadership Award by the School Superintendents Association in 2016. She is also a member of the leadership boards for Greentrike and the Foss Waterway Seaport.
