Carolina Mejia is an incumbent Thurston County Commissioner, currently serving her second term until 2028. Born in Honduras, she moved to the U.S. at 11 and earned a BA in Business Administration. After relocating to Washington, she worked in law, including as a Judicial Assistant for Thurston County Superior Court. Elected Commissioner in 2021, she chaired the Board (2022-2023) and is Vice Chair of the Board of Health, advocating for diverse and underserved communities and LGBTQIA+ rights. Mejia, a Democrat, is challenging incumbent State Senator Drew MacEwen for the Washington State Senate, District 35, in the 2026 election.
