Carolyn Cox was first elected to the Lacey City Council in 2011. She has a background in state government, having worked for the Washington State Legislature and the Office of the Governor. Cox is a long-time resident of Lacey and has been involved in numerous community organizations. Her work on the council has included participation in the Finance Committee and the Land Use and Environment Committee.
