Carson Henry Smith Jr. is a Republican member of the North Carolina House of Representatives, representing the 16th district since January 1, 2019. Before his election to the state house, Smith served as the sheriff of Pender County from 2002 to 2018. He also previously served as the Emergency Management Director for Pender County. He was born in Wilmington, North Carolina, and graduated from Topsail High School in Hampstead. He also attended the University of North Carolina at Wilmington.
