Cathy Cloninger is a lifelong resident of Gaston County and currently serves as the Vice-Chair of the Gaston County Board of Commissioners, representing Dallas Township. She graduated from Cherryville High School and holds a bachelor's degree in Social Work from Mars Hill College. For thirty-four years, from 1983 until her retirement in 2017, she was a dedicated county employee focused on domestic violence services. Cloninger has served on the North Carolina Domestic Violence Commission since 2011 and is a member of the Rotary Club of Gastonia. Her past roles include serving as a Sustainer with the Junior League of Gaston County and Chair of the Gaston County Domestic Violence Prevention Council and Gaston County Health Care Commission. She is married to retired Sheriff Alan Cloninger and resides in Dallas, NC.
