Chad Brown is a former professional baseball player and a lifelong resident of Gaston County. He began his political career as the mayor of Stanley before being elected to the Gaston County Board of Commissioners, where he is currently serving his fourth term and acts as Chairman. He has also served on the state's Parks and Recreation Board. Brown attended North Gaston High School and North Greenville College. He is a member of Flint Groves Baptist Church in Gastonia.
