Chad Whetzel was appointed to the Whitman County Commissioner seat in March 2025 to fill a vacancy. He graduated from Washington State University in 1997 with a Bachelor of Science in Animal Science and has operated a farrier business since 1997. His community service includes 25 years as a 4-H leader, 24 years as an EMT and 14 years as a Captain with Whitman County Fire District 12, and 12 years on the Whitman County Planning Commission, serving 8 of those years as chair. He has also been a member of the Whitman County Cattlemen's Association.
