Charles Haynes

Charles M. Haynes is the current Watauga County Clerk of Superior Court. He was appointed to the position effective June 1, 2021, to complete the term of the retiring clerk, Diane Cornett Deal. Prior to his appointment, Haynes had worked in the clerk's office for eight years as an assistant and deputy clerk. Before his career in the court system, he worked as a relationship banker. Haynes graduated from Appalachian State University in 2003. He ran for election as a Republican to retain his position in the general election on November 8, 2022.
