Chuck Hubbard is a native of Wilkes County and was born in Bryson City, North Carolina. He earned a bachelor's degree from Wofford College in 1985. For over forty years, he has worked as a local journalist, starting at the age of 8 at the Wilkes Journal-Patriot, a local paper founded by his grandfather. He has served on the board of various community organizations, including the Wilkes Recovery Revolution, the Wilkes Child Abuse Prevention Team, the Wilkes Prison Ministry. He lives in Wilkesboro with his wife, Shari, with whom he has three daughters and two grandchildren.
