Charlie Baum, born December 13, 1972, is a Republican representing Tennessee's District 37 in the House of Representatives since 2018. A Ph.D. economist, he also serves as a professor at Middle Tennessee State University. An Eagle Scout, Baum previously served on the Rutherford County Commission. As chair of the Higher Education Subcommittee, he's known for independent voting, notably opposing expulsions of Democratic lawmakers to prioritize collaboration and constituent wishes. His legislative efforts cover robocalls, retirement savings, TennCare benefits, and the "Caring for Caregivers Act." Residing in Murfreesboro with his family, he seeks re-election to continue his focus on economic policy, education, and community service.
