Chris Shew

Chris Shew began his career with the Wilkes County Sheriff's Office on June 17, 1980, as a part-time deputy. He became a full-time deputy and detention officer in 1981. Over the years, he was promoted to Sergeant and then Captain in 1983, assigned to investigations in 1984, and became Chief-Detective in 1986, a role he held until 2001. In 2001, he was appointed Chief-Deputy, serving in that capacity until he was first elected Sheriff in 2010. His career includes extensive training in management, supervision, and various fields of investigation. He holds an Advanced Law Enforcement Certificate from the North Carolina Sheriffs' Education and Training Standards Commission.
